Folk Art is.....

This is a great group of sixth graders working on sketches for their Folk Art paintings.  We discussed what Folk Art is and how it's typically done by untrained artists.  Next time they come we will be drawing out their ideas on large paper with chisel Sharpies.

Op Art

In Art today, we have Miles Davis playing, colored pencils, an Op Art project and some AWESOME 7th and 8th graders!  I can't think of a better way to start the day!  They are working hard to shade and create a 3D feel on their Op Art pieces.  We have talked about shading and creating values, using one color and analogous colors.  Excited to see how these turn out!

Creating Sketchbooks

It's Friday afternoon and the 6th graders are creating the covers of their sketchbooks.   They are using papers and magazines to create collages on the front.  Next week we will stitch the pages inside and use them for the first time.

Murals

7th and 8th graders are painting murals on the windows in the library, hall and cafeteria.  They made a plan yesterday, started painting today and will hopefully finish painting tomorrow.  Excited to see the murals finished and add a little color to the building.
